BIO
Casey James is the rare kind of artist who doesn’t just perform music—he commands a room. With a career built on world-class musicianship, national exposure, and years of high-level touring, Casey brings a proven, professional presence that resonates with audiences long after the last note fades.
America first met Casey James on Season 9 of American Idol, where his undeniable talent, magnetic stage presence, and raw authenticity carried him into the Top 3 nationwide. Week after week, he stood out not just as a singer, but as a musician—a blues-rock guitarist with fire in his hands and soul in his voice. That run introduced him to millions and set the stage for a career rooted in both artistry and longevity.
Following American Idol, Casey signed with Sony Music Nashville, releasing his self-titled debut album to critical acclaim. The record featured hits like “Let’s Don’t Call It a Night” and “Crying on a Suitcase”, both of which charted high on Billboard, solidifying him as more than a TV finalist—he was a legitimate force in country and roots-rock music. His sound blends Southern grit, blues edge, and modern country sensibility, making him versatile enough to connect with diverse audiences while staying unmistakably authentic.
Though commercially successful, James later found the demands of the major label system creatively restrictive. After parting ways with Sony, he refocused on the music that most truly reflected his roots. In 2017 he released Strip It Down. He made the blues project he’d always envisioned introducing his music to a whole new demographic, which was well received worldwide. Teaming up with Grammy Award Winner Tom Hambridge was a great start, and James was left with a record that garnered rave reviews from Blues/Rock/Americana media outlets and fans across the world – with the Rock Doctor raving that that Strip It Down was “one hell of a delightful surprise!” He had finally busted into the scene he’d always wanted to be a part of.
With his 2020 follow-up, If You Don’t Know By Now, James dug in deeper on the genre, exploring its range while setting himself apart as an inspired, melodic guitarist as well as an expressive, soulful vocalist. It’s a stark commitment to a musical form lodged firmly in his soul. James attacked If You Don’t Know By Now with a new level of confidence, thanks in part to his affirming experience with Strip It Down.
“We need to remind humanity what music is about,” James says. “It's not about money. It's not about fame. At the end of the day, you can remove all that, take away technology, take away marketing, but the music will remain. It's unkillable. As long as human beings live, music will remain, and that brings me joy.”
Casey’s live résumé is just as impressive. He has toured and shared stages with some of the biggest names in music, including Taylor Swift, Delbert McClinton, Ed Sheeran, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Little Big Town, Buddy Guy, SugarLand and many more. These aren’t just opening slots—they’re stamps of trust from artists and teams who demand excellence night after night. Casey understands the discipline, stamina, and professionalism required at the highest levels of touring, and he delivers consistently.
What truly sets Casey apart is his ability to connect. Whether performing in an intimate acoustic setting or commanding a festival stage, he brings intensity, humility, and genuine passion to every performance. He knows how to read a crowd, tell a story, and make each show feel personal—because it is.
Between the years of 2020 and 2024, in an effort to weather the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Casey joined forces with two fellow artists to form the powerhouse trio Texas Hill. The project became Casey’s primary focus for the next four years, during which Texas Hill toured extensively and released four albums along with two live performance videos. Ultimately, Casey chose to conclude the chapter in order to return to his individual artistry and reconnect with his respective fanbase.
With a renewed sense of purpose and freedom to pursue his own artistry, Casey James is stepping into uncharted territory with the release of his first-ever acoustic album, "Me & My Guitar," set to be released released April 2026. This project, born out of the long-time requests of his fans, is his heartfelt response. Showcasing his soulful vocals accompanied by just his guitar, he strips down the production and invites fans to connect with the essence of his music in its purest form. “Me & My Guitar” promises a raw and genuine musical experience in which the audience will gain a sense of authenticity that is often overshadowed in heavily produced tracks.
His fans can look forward to a collection of heartfelt acoustic renditions set to be released this Spring , offering a fresh perspective of his already beloved repertoire. “I’m beyond excited to finally get this material on a record and to perform it live. Some of the songs will be familiar to my fans and some will be new, but it’s exciting to deliver all of them from the perspective I have right now.
“I’m thankful to have a dedicated audience that believes in who I am and what I do. I couldn’t ask for more and I’m always excited for what’s next.” – Casey James.
As an independent artist based in Nashville, he continues to write, record and tour, bringing his heartfelt songwriting and gritty, soulful performances to audiences around the world. Check out his Touring Schedule to see if he’s playing in a city near you!
